A Case for Girl Scout Cookies

Did you know that if you happen to have an empty case of Girl Scout cookies (not a single box, mind you, a case that a group of boxes could fit in nicely), it is just the right size to fit between the 2 front seats of a Toyota Sienna? Perfect for a roadtrip for audio books, snacks, a tissue box and such. :)

Happy summer!

Our Star Wars Party

If you want to see how I put together a Star Wars party for my 8 year old, check out the Scrapbookgraphics' blog! Oh, and click on the layout if you want to see the full 2 pager rather than this seemingly 1 and a third pager.

Overheard at My House

"wouldn't it be cool if i could live FUH EVERRRRRRR?"
"you can, scott, you can go to heaven"
"wouldn't it be cool to go to heaven and get to meet real aliens?"
"wouldn't it be cool to go to heaven and see a woolly mammoth?"
[clacking of light sabers resumes]

My First 10K Race

I feel languid and sore, like I need to go stretch some more (and I will in a bit), but now I can say I've run 10K, and that was in a 10K race. My first race ever. I ran 11 minute miles for the first 2 miles, and then there were no mile markers the rest of the way, so I can't be more precise than that. My total time was 71 minutes 55 seconds, meaning an 11 minute 25 second pace. I'm happy.

I ran the race with an old junior high school friend. We reconnected via Facebook. Having her to run with really did help me keep my pace up. If I'd been solo, I might have been tempted to walk the last 2 miles, but it was easy to choose to keep running with my buddy.

My farthest run prior to today's was 5.3 miles. Kaboom, new personal record!

The official results: 48th for my age group (i turn 45 in a few weeks; my ranking would have been 18th for that age group). 231st overall, 327 participated.

Some Photos from Costa Rica

We got home last night from 8 days in Costa Rica. What a gorgeous welcoming country. We want to go back. :)

That's a howler monkey we saw in Arenal, and a Morpho Owl butterfly we saw in Corcovado.
